A bespoke cedar-clad garden bar, built for year-round entertaining, finished to the standard of the main house.
The client had an underused corner of the garden, a patio hemmed in by boundary walls, and a clear ambition: a genuine entertaining space they could use all year, with the character of a country pub rather than a flat-pack cabin.
That meant building it like a room of the house: real foundations, full insulation, proper electrics and a finish worth showing off.
We set out an insulated timber frame to the curved boundary, wrapped it in a breathable membrane and a warm tiled roof, then clad it inside and out in Western Red Cedar, the same timber running seamlessly from the external walls through to the bar itself.
Underfloor services, festoon lighting and a woodburner flue were all designed in from the first day on site.
The finished bar pairs travertine flooring with floor-to-ceiling cedar, a reclaimed barrel table, hide-topped stools, a glazed beer fridge and a wall-mounted screen, all framed by oak bifold doors that open the room straight onto the deck.
Warm in winter, cool in summer, and ready for a Friday night in any season.
Structural frame set out to the curved boundary, membrane-wrapped and ready for cladding.
Cedar boards, bespoke bar and festoon lighting, the character starts to land.
Oak bifolds, woodburner and a finished bar, handed over ready to enjoy.
