The Brief

More room, more light.

The clients wanted to open up and extend the rear of the house, creating a larger, brighter living and kitchen space that connected properly to the garden.

A flat-roof extension with generous rooflights was the answer: maximum floor area, maximum daylight, minimal visual bulk.

Before · The rear
The Build

A warm roof, built to last.

New blockwork and brickwork went up to match the existing house, with steel and timber forming the structure. The flat roof was built up as a warm-roof system over full Kingspan Thermal insulation, keeping the new space comfortable and energy-efficient year round.

Window and door openings were formed, lintelled and weatherproofed as the shell came together.

The Finish

Daylight from above.

The completed roof is a clean, single-ply membrane deck framed by stone coping, with two large frameless glass rooflights dropping light straight into the room below. Brick details and verges were finished to match the host property seamlessly.
